Dear Auto Enthusiast:
Mark your calendars for Friday evening June 13, and all day Saturday, June 14, 2008 to attend the 5th Annual Central Lake Collector
Car and Truck Show. Our registered vehicle count in 2007 was 281 units. In an ongoing effort towards continuous improvement here
are some upcoming highlights and changes to enhance the show:
Vehicle Classes: Due to the exceptional quality of vehicles attending we've added new Concours Awards. Our judges will determine
their top 8 picks by noon and ask these vehicles to relocate to the center of town. These 8 will then battle it out for Best in Show
Stock and Modified honors. The remaining 6 vehicles will receive a new, prestigious, Optical Crystal Concours Award rated above the
individual Premium Awards. The top 8 will not receive Premium or Class Award Trophies.
Another new category addition is the Semi-Stock Class for muscle cars. What is Semi-Stock? It's a vehicle with original sheet metal
and interior, and minor performance/drivability modifications. Under the hood it looks basically stock. People in this category
probably have an aluminum intake, high output alternator, headers, some gauges inside the cabin, stereo, et., but the car is otherwise
93.4% restored to how it looked back in the day. There is almost no use of non-stock chrome (headers excluded) under the hood. To
the casual observer they would think the vehicle is stock. Semi-Stock also includes clones. Furthermore, we've trimmed out some
categories due to low attendance and added others that were too full. For those in the 1958-1965 stock model years we've added
some more room. For steel bodied street rods we've done the same. Note: Exceptional vehicles in Semi-Stock chosen for the
Concours competition will compete as Stock. Check the flier for a complete list of categories.
Judging: This is a 100% third party judged event. While it's not necessary to have your vehicle judged the fees remain the same. New
for 2008 I'm sending the judges out to begin reviews at 9:00 a.m. Don't worry, we realize everyone is not yet in attendance or ready
but many are. In previous years we've waited to get all cars parked and located prior to official judging. With our new system we'll
have more time per vehicle and also be able to call the show earlier. We know your day starts early, and since our family got a new
Scottie puppy we really appreciate the need to get home and let the dog out. The awards will be called at 3:00 p.m.
General: Central Lake offers a wonderful, dust free, small town environment for a car show. This event is for everyone and all are
welcome. While we're too little for a stoplight, don't be fooled...you will see some of the nation's top vehicles in attendance. You'll be
able to park immediately upon arrival and get settled. Six in town restaurants will be ready to serve you. Our top giveaways and
trophies are among the best in the state. Extensive print & web advertising, including 120 radio ads and good weather, should
ensure a memorable day.
We hope you can join us.
Sincerely,
Joel Shooks
